The full City Council yesterday approved of Totana, with votes for the PP, PSOE abstention from and against IU-Greens amendments to various tax ordinances in order to guarantee the payment of municipal services to businesses who provide them, and so do not larger debt with them and ensure that suppliers are not affected by the difficult economic situation of local government.
The Councillor for Finance, Maria Jose Baeza, explained that, given the delicate situation in which the Town Hall, following the drastic austerity measures and containment of public spending initiated by the current government team, there has been a step in reducing debt to suppliers.
Thus, price-eating public and nursery schools, sports facilities rents through partner companies, or the provision of social services shall be paid directly to business users, such as during manipulator food.
This establishes the new amendment which allows the partners that provide services to perform management of the collection of public prices established by the City Council.
This measure, as stated by Baeza, will enable not generate debt with these companies and will benefit the creditworthiness of the same thus ensuring the jobs of employees as well as service delivery and implementation of activities.
He also noted that the payment in a timely manner to these businesses, as has been seen many times, it is not possible in a timely manner, since the income to maintain services and activities have declined dramatically over the years in which the economy has been weakened by the crisis, mainly derived from State taxes.
In addition, this modification includes reduction of 50 percent of the tax for municipal use of public space (terraces) for all restaurateurs.
Before this change, the mayor explained that to support the productive sectors related to the restoration will be credited each year the rate payable for the years 2012 and 2013.
