Totana's neighbors have learned, through the Municipal Information Point installed on the weekly market, how to recycle used cooking oil and where to place it after the launch of ten new collection points in public.
Through recycling campaign, launched in 2008 and promoted by the Autonomous Community, is intended to eliminate a highly polluting waste from the sewerage system and so facilitate the reuse of treated water.
The Councillor for Environment, María José Bedia, visited the PIM where the neighbors have seen how the oil is separated by placing the funnel into the plastic bottle (container that can be collected free of charge) in order to pour oil in the bottle to finally be deposited in special containers.
Bedia recalled that the distribution funnel for depositing oil in a plastic bottle is free and can be ordered in two ways: without prior request, the Department of Environment stocks last (Wednesday from 12:00 to 14:00).
Once finished stocks in this Department must be made with prior request on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water: http://www.proyectobolsa.es/solicitud/.
Can then be collected in this Department.
The mayor pointed out that the implementation of selective collection system is made of vegetable oils under the Accession of the City Council to the Framework Agreement between the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Planning, the Federation of Neighborhood Associations, Consumers and Users Murcia (FAVERMUR) and the Association of Collection, Treatment and Recycling of Oil and Grease (AERT).
