On Sunday 13 February, was held by the Club de Totana Senderista of its activities, most mountain and long scheduled on your calendar of activities within.
On this occasion the 16 walkers dared to Cabañas Peak, which at 2040 meters rises to second place in the highest mountains of the Parque Natural de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas.
The day began at 7 am from the door of the council for a car shuttle to the town of Pozo Alcon jinense at the foot of the south side of the Sierra de Cazorla.
The walking tour began at about 10 am from the hostel "The Hornico" at an altitude of 950 meters and is ascended by a path that ran through a forest of black pine foliage to the source of Tornajo at an altitude of 1600 meters .
From that point, the high mountain scenery takes over the view of walkers totaneros, which accentuated by narrow roads covered slopes and more than 30 cm.
of snow in shaded areas, were climbing slowly but steadily towards the peak of Cabañas whose top reached about 2 o'clock noon.
The descent follows the gorge of the Abbots, the hill of the Ferns and Güazalamanco bed of the river, a rushing river bed which houses the famous Ruta del Agua de la Sierra del Pozo, a real spectacle of wilderness that accompanied the walkers on the last leg of this route of 25 kilometers and 1200 meters.
The next path of Totana walker club will take place on February 27 in the Sierra de La Muela, in the municipality of Cartagena, a route only 10 kilometers and 700 meters will flow through one of the few areas in Costa Virgin still remain in the Region of Murcia.
