The City Council of Totana is the fourth city of Spain and the first at the regional level who receives a greater number of grants immigration by the Ministry of Ministry of Labour and Immigration, with a total of 106,000 euros for innovative projects in immigration.
These grants received have been convened by the Ministry of Labour and Immigration through its Directorate General for the Integration of Immigrants to fund innovative programs to municipalities, associations of municipalities and counties, for the attention of immigrants, primarily children, girls and women in family reunification process.
The City Council of Totana is by going from 2007 to this call and has raised a total of 10 grants to fund many other programs.
Through a grant awarded to the City of Totana, as explained by the Councillor for Social Welfare, Juan Carrion, amounting to € 86,000 will develop the program "Promotion of volunteerism and civic participation in the coverage of basic needs" (21,000 euros), "Intercultural Education in values for coexistence and equality" (31,000 euros) and "Training and promotion socio immigrant women and youth at social risk" (34,000 euros).
In this regard, the mayor pointed out that of the 73 municipalities and counties benefiting from these grants nationally, Totana is in fourth place in the amount awarded at the state level and regional level first (ahead of cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Murcia.).
In this sense, the mayor has declared that "the town of Totana is placed first at the national level if we consider this amount in proportion to population size of the municipality."
In addition, the City Council has received another grant Totana extraordinary by the Ministry of Labour and Immigration, amounting to 20,000 euros for the development of fourth innovative program called "Promoting social and labor immigrants in social risk."
