The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, has asked the Segura River Basin to proceed with the utmost speed, to clean the river Butte Guadalentín because the stagnation of water after recent rains may bring at risk the health of people living in the vicinity of the great plague due to mosquitoes and other insects.
The mayor has emphasized that the State agency should be cleaned and drain stagnant water so that pests are gone, and that due to high temperatures is encouraging that the insects are concentrated in the vicinity of river.
Martínez Andreo recalled that in that area there are homes first home and live where people who may be vulnerable to mosquito bites, such as elderly people or children.
However, the mayor totanero has indicated that CHS is expected to act immediately, as not being in this way may be a public health problem for the residents of this area of the municipality.
