The City Council of Totana, through the Department of Social Welfare, has participated in the development of state guidelines for the implementation of local plans for awareness, which aims to facilitate the development by local action to raise awareness in the field of equal treatment and non-discrimination on racial or ethnic origin, as reported by the council of the Department, Juan Carrion Tudela.
This guide, which has produced a total of 4,000 copies for distribution throughout the national territory, as noted by the mayor, is the result of a collective, coordinated by the Spanish Observatory on Racism and Xenophobia, which have involved various public entities and private pre-selected for this purpose by the Ministry of Labour and Immigration.
In total have been 18 local authorities (municipalities and provincial), five autonomous regions (including the Region of Murcia), two universities, NGOs, s (Spanish Caritas Movement Count Intolerance WELCOMES Red, Spanish Red Cross) social consulting firms.
The council has been very pleased with this collaboration, and that "reflects and recognizes the role of the City of Totana reference to the time of development of actions to combat racial discrimination and its commitment to the integration of immigrants."
In this sense, the mayor stressed that the City Council of Totana has been the "only local entity in the Region of Murcia has participated in the preparation of this document."
