The Councillor for Education, Trini Cayuela, has announced the launch next September, as in previous years, the campaign to collect school materials presented under the theme "Sharpen your school supplies, and has therefore requested the cooperation of citizens to recycle used materials and school education and contribute to the reduction of truancy.
This initiative, which aims to raise public awareness of the need to recycle educational material is part of the actions carried out through the Municipal Service of Prevention and Truancy Control of the Department of Education.
With the launch of this initiative is to promote and support the creation of specific resources that contribute to reduced absenteeism problem, develop actions aimed at the prevention of truancy, raise public awareness of the need for educational material recycling and school use and promote values of solidarity, care of equipment and reuse of resources, among others.
The mayor explained that, "schools can not meet all these needs or financial grants that are offered from various fields can respond to this situation," so in this sense it is considered appropriate commissioning progress of this campaign to collect educational materials and school, which will "contribute to the recycling of those materials used school and promote actions of solidarity."
As said Cayuela, one of the reasons why some students do not attend school is, among others, "have difficulty accessing needed material resources, especially in low-income families."
Therefore, educational institutions, through coordination among the centers themselves, "the Municipal Service of Prevention and Control of truancy, and the Department of Social Welfare, collect the demands of families and made the request once valued and studied the case, provided that they can not get aid through scholarships to study or other means.
The campaign will run throughout the month of September and the equipment delivered must be in good condition, no paint, write or deteriorated so that it can be used by the students of nursery, primary or secondary education (ESO).
Textbooks may not be older than three years.
The type of material that can be deposited are reading books, books, educational games, pencils, pencil cases, CD-ROM interactive games, backpacks, scissors, short stories, dictionaries, pens, tables and lamps for study, calculators, puzzles, markers , folders, or other material, which is no longer in use.
These materials may be delivered in the Socio-Cultural Center "The Prison," from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00.
