Totana City Council is introducing a new service "SMS SOS" to improve the coverage and attention to emergency situations with people suffering from hearing problems and oral communication, enabling them to contact the Local Police and Emergency Services Municipal.
In this regard, Councillor for New Technologies, Juan Carrion, has indicated that this service is in response to the need expressed by various associations of the municipality, to correct a problem they were having the time to communicate with the local police to carry warnings therefore proceeded to study alternatives designed to address this difficulty.
The service is called "SMS SOS" and allows a person belonging to the groups listed above, may make an announcement to the local police by sending a mobile message (SMS), which indicate the problem is and location for the police to assist him accordingly.
This service will be operational from next September and will be directed solely to those groups and can not be used by other people without such disabilities, to be followed using the same phone that can use today.
Thus, giving effect to the Plenum approved unanimously by all political groups last April.
As a result of work done, the council of New Technologies in collaboration with the local police available to people with verbal communication problems (deaf, stutterers and laringetomizadas, among others), a new service in order to overcome these problems.
The mayor expressed his satisfaction at being able to solve this problem, since the elimination of such obstacles communication helps achieve the goal of equality of all people, enabling greater integration of groups with disabilities.
