Authorities of the municipal government participated this morning in the act of support for the partial general strike called by the union organizations UGT and CCOO in the City of Totana on the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day, which is commemorated today March 8.
The mayor, Andrés García, the first deputy mayor, Juan José Cánovas, the councilor for Equality, Eulalia Moreno, and practically all the members of the Totana government team, as well as several dozen public employees and workers.
During the ceremony, which took place at the gates of the totanero Consistory, a manifesto was read by women representatives of the unions, the technique of the Department of Equality and the owner of this department, Eulalia Moreno;
and a minute of silence has been observed for equality and against gender violence.
In addition, municipal workers have met at an informational meeting that took place later in the Plaza de la Balsa Vieja, where a manifesto will be read by representatives of both unions and the technicians of the Department of Equality ;
and there will be a minute of silence for equality and against gender violence.
The mayor explained that the current government team supports the claims and unemployment actions promoted by both unions because it is necessary to stage and make visible the gaps and discrimination that, because of sex, exist in the labor market and respond to the demands and needs of the workers.
