PREAMBLE
On the occasion of the MANIFESTATION scheduled in MADRID for March 7, 2018, convened by:
THE CIRCLE FOR WATER, AND THE CENTRAL TRADE UNION IN THE PROVINCES OF ALICANTE, MURCIA AND ALMERIA.
An Informative Assembly has been held yesterday with all the social and business fabric of Totana (CR Totana, Totana City Council, UPA Agrarian Trade Unions, COAG, ASAJA, Agricultural Cooperatives, Agricultural and Related Companies, CEBAG, Merchants Association and Political Parties (PSOE, PP, IU)
REASON
In view of the serious situation of lack of water resources and the lack of prospects in the short and medium term, with the loss of tree and horticultural plantations, which would entail tremendous social and environmental consequences, with the loss of INCLUDED markets, it has remained yesterday an Informative Assembly with all the social and business fabric of Totana in order to specify the support measures not only of farmers but also of civil society.
Attendees AGREED TO PROPOSE THE FOLLOWING MEASURES:
FIRST.- All the irrigations are suspended, both from the Irrigation Community as well as from the wells and SAT, likewise the offices of the irrigation community will remain closed, all the personnel of the same participating in the aforementioned manifestation.
SECOND.- The closure of cooperatives and agricultural companies in Totana.
THIRD.- Closing likewise all kinds of shops.
FOURTH.- On the part of the municipality of Totana the commitment to discuss the possibility of total or partial closure of the various institutions dependent on it, as well as the issuance of a side institutionally supporting the Madrid demonstration and the closure of shops in the municipality of Totana
FIFTH.- On the part of the Department of Commerce proposes the possibility of changing the day of the market and its transfer to the day before the date of the demonstration, Tuesday, given its coincidence next Wednesday with the demonstration.
SIXTH.- Propose to the school council that the educational centers of the municipality (Institutes and Schools), coinciding with the start time of the demonstration, at 12:00 a.m. in the morning, the teachers read about the causes and demands by which the manifestation takes place.
In order to transfer to future generations the importance of water in the Levante area, not only for agriculture but for society in general in defense of water resources as a fundamental basic right recognized by all international organizations as a basic pillar for the development of society.
SEVENTH .- Propose an act of concentration in the Town Hall Square, at 12.00 hours on Wednesday, March 7, for all those who have been unable to move to the Madrid demonstration and so can give their support to the cause .
EIGHTH.- On the part of the political representatives attending this assembly, it is agreed to suspend the political agenda on the day of the demonstration, as a measure of support to be able to travel together with the demonstrators to Madrid.
WITHOUT WATER, WE WILL LOSE ALL OUR TREES AND PLANTATIONS OF VEGETABLES AND WITH THAT THE ECONOMY OF OUR FAMILIES AND THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN.
WE DEMAND THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND WATER, SOLUTIONS TO THIS AGONIC SITUATION IN MADRID ON MARCH 7, 2018.
