The Exhibition Hall "Gregorio Cebrián" hosted on Saturday February 17 the Regional Final of School Sports Chess, organized by the General Directorate of Sports of the Region of Murcia and the Department of Sports of the City of Totana, which involved 170 schoolchildren of all the points of the Region of Murcia, belonging to the categories Alevín and Open.
It should be noted the large participation Totanera, with 14 schoolchildren, corresponding to the schools of Santiago, La Cruz, Reina Sofia, Juan de la Cierva and Prado Mayor.
In the juvenile category, the Pasico Campillo School (Lorca) finished in the first place, while the schools Mediterráneo (Águilas) and José María La Puerta (Murcia), were second and third respectively.
In individual mode, the first classified was Adrián Tomas Gomariz (Miguel Hernández School), and the second and third place went to Miguel Torroglosa Liron (Colegio Pasico Campillo) and Vicente Carrillo Zafra (Diego Martínez Rico School).
As for the Open category, the champion was the IES Ben Arabi (Murcia), the second place went to the IES Abarán and the third place to the IES Juan Carlos I (Murcia),
And in the individual modality, the first was Aaron Alonso García (IES Ben Arabi), second José Carlos Martínez Bastida (IES Abarán) and third José Luís Vázquez Andrés (IES Los Albares).
Regarding the results of the totaneros participants, it is worth mentioning the fourth place in the juvenile category by the Santiago School, and the fifth place of the IES Juan de la Cierva, in the category.
And in the individual modality, the best classified was Francisco López Martínez (La Cruz), 19th place in the juvenile category;
and Carmen García Requena (IES Juan de la Cierva), 16th position in the Open category.
Once the competition was over, the trophies and medals were handed out to the first three centers classified in each category, by the Councilor for Sports of the Totana City Council, Isabel Molino López, and the Chief of Sports Service of the Directorate General of Sports of the Region of Murcia, Eduardo Segarra Vicens.
