Maintenance of the Aquatic Therapy Service with Physiotherapist of users derived from educational centers, in the heated pool, during the school year is authorized (19/02/2018)

The Local Government Board has recently authorized the expense derived from the participation of the children proposed as priority by the Physiotherapy Service of the educational centers of Totana for their participation in the Aquatic Therapy Service with Physiotherapist in the Sports Center "MOVE", during the year 2018.

This will count, for the third consecutive year that is performed without interruption, with a maximum of 12 students in individual sessions and 4 in pairs, or in another number and distribution as long as they do not exceed the budgeted limits charged to the City Council or the credit available for this period, amounting to a total of 3,000.60 euros.

The Local Board has given the green light to the proposal of the Councilor for Social Welfare, Javier Baños, for the maintenance of the service that has been resumed in this term.

This initiative is carried out in view of the sensitivity of the City Council to this type of situation and the positive results seen in this project during the years 2016 and 2017.

From the Physiotherapy Service that is provided in the educational centers of Totana to children with special educational needs, it has been detected the need to extend it to those cases with a greater need for stimulation, through physiotherapy techniques in the aquatic environment to enhance their psychomotor development.

The experts consider that in order to achieve progress and positive results in the treatment, a continuity is required, at least throughout the school year.

Currently, Totana has an indoor pool where you can perform this service, managed by the Sports Center "MOVE", whose entity is willing to provide their facilities to provide the necessary service offering the possibility of developing a weekly session per child, either in individual therapy or in pairs.

This service will be maintained in the face of the negative repercussions on the family economy of the various treatments and therapeutic supports that parents provide their children with these special educational needs.
