Francisco Jodar, attends as a guest to the Governing Board of the Irrigation Community of the Tajo-Segura Transfer of Totana, where he announced the construction of an environmental tank in Totana that will allow more water to be available to irrigators in the area.
He also affirms that a rolling raft will also be built "to avoid losing a single drop of water".
From the Popular Party of Totana we express our maximum satisfaction for the news that the Water Minister has presented today to the Community of Irrigators of Totana after the demands of the lack of endowment of the water of the transfer, of the regularization of the consolidated ones, besides the start-up of the drought wells of the Irrigation Community.
During the visit of the Counselor, Francisco Jodar, who responded to the invitation of that body to attend the Board of Government of the same, announced that the Community will begin this year the construction of an environmental tank and a rolling pond in Totana, that will allow to collect the excess flows of the sanitation network, which will be driven to the purification plant of the municipality for the appropriate treatment and subsequent use in the irrigation of the area.
These actions are continuity of those that were initiated in the previous legislature by the Partido Popular de Totana, when the lands were transferred from the City Council and there was no need to seek financing and execute the works, which the Counselor affirmed during the meeting has pointed out that "the project is aimed at not wasting a single drop of water".
Currently, the Wastewater Treatment Plant (Edar) already provides 800,000 cubic meters for irrigation to 340 hectares.
"These infrastructures," Jódar added, "will make it possible to collect, laminate and bring the first rainwater to the Edar, they will expand the collection network of existing rainwater and prevent the overflow of water from sanitation wells."
Once in the deposit they will pass to the treatment plant for its later treatment.
Environmental tank
The environmental tank will be located upstream of the Edar, in the same plot.
This location will serve as an element of regulation of the excess flow that enters the treatment plant, thus avoiding discharges to the public channel.
The useful volume of retention of the tank will be of 3,102 m3, with a distribution in 6 independent vessels of approximately 516 m3, and whose filling will be carried out successively.
This will increase the energy efficiency in the washing of the vessels, since the entire volume of the tank does not necessarily have to be used.
On the other hand, the rolling pool will be located next to the existing raft of the irrigation community of the Tajo-Segura de Totana Transfer, at an intermediate point between the environmental tank and the emissary to the Guadalentín River from the Edar, which will allow that, in case the storage volume of the tank-raft assembly is exceeded in episodes of torrential rain, the surplus water is evacuated through the emissary to the Guadalentín River, in conditions of adequate dilution.
The useful volume of retention of the raft, which will be executed by emptying the existing land, will be 14,575 m3.
The rolling ponds store the wastewater at specific moments in which the pumping systems fail and, in the event of an electrical failure, avoid discharges by storing the water in the network and allow time for the problem to be solved.
