The president of the Regional Assembly, Rosa Peñalver, today showed the support of the Institution to La Bastida de Totana , visiting with the mayor of the municipality, Andrés García Cánovas, and members of the municipal corporation the argárico deposit of more than 4000 years of seniority, according to sources of the Assembly in a statement.
During the trip, Peñalver has known the particularities of this settlement of 4 hectares of surface in which they emphasize a fortification, tombs and utensils of the daily life, like pots, bowls or glasses, among other containers.
Archaeologists who have excavated 15 percent of the site have served as guides and have been in charge, as well, to explain the financial needs of this project to continue with the research, musealization and dissemination that comprise the integral project of La Bastida, also known as La Troya de Occidente.
In this regard, the president of the regional Chamber has stressed that "La Bastida has a potential wealth that needs an initial investment."
Peñalver has stressed that "the Region of Murcia has to bet on different production models, such as that offered by cultural heritage and that, in this case, has no competition because it is unique in the world.
The universities of Austria, Portugal, Germany, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Murcia are studying this site and we have to put it into value ".
