The parish of Santiago El Mayor has published a promotional video of the Tower of the Church of Santiago El Mayor, which presents the architectural and historical peculiarities of the Church Tower and invites you to visit it during the guided tours offered on Saturdays by the morning.
The mayor, Andrés García, the parish priest of Santiago, Francisco José Fernández, and the chronicler of the city, Juan Cánovas Mulero, presented this attractive audiovisual document that is projected in the visits organized to the Tower and with which it is wanted to give greater enhancement and knowledge to this emblematic infrastructure of the city.
The rehabilitation works of the Tower of Santiago were inaugurated in July 2008 and served to value this part of the historical, cultural and religious heritage of the city.
In addition, since June 2016 the museum has been given museum and touristic meaning through the musealization of each of the rooms that make up this infrastructure and the offer of guided tours of the monument.
The video, which lasts approximately nine minutes, also emphasizes the historical and scenic significance of other places of tourist interest in Totana, such as La Santa, the archaeological site of La Bastida, the Temple of Santiago and the Orchards, among others;
as well as the values ​​that mean us.
The document, recorded with drones and unpublished images of these spaces until now, has been coordinated by the restaurateur architect, Francisco Guerao, scripted by the chronicler and historian Juan Cánovas Mulero and the artistic direction of Joaquín Clares, from the production company "Estudio Visual" .
The mayor stressed the importance and quality of this document that serves to publicize the tourist offer of this municipality and the monumental and historical attraction of this emblematic architectural space.
The parish priest thanked the City Council's willingness to signify the social, religious and architectural identity of the municipality;
as well as the parish priests who preceded him in the previous projects of restoration and musealization with the enhancement of this infrastructure as an element that identifies the identity of this town.
In addition, he reported that this is the third tallest bell tower in the Diocese of Cartagena and, without a doubt, shapes the significance of religious identity through the history of Totana.
For its part, the official chronicler of Totana, Juan Cánovas, invited and encouraged the totaneros to visit this monument "great unknown by the totaneros" and added that, with this video, it is intended to arouse the spirit of curiosity to be encouraged Guided tours of the Tower.
As explained, in the year and a half that began guided tours of the Tower have involved about 800 people, which continue to be programmed every Saturday morning, with a minimum of 10 or 12 people, prior reservation at the Tourist Office, and also in English if required.
