The Department of Works and Infrastructure has recently opened the new children's playground of the municipal park "Marcos Ortiz", whose works have been developed in recent weeks and has had a budget of more than 81,000 euros;
and they are financed within the framework of the Regional Action Plan for the Promotion of Municipal Works and Services 2016 (PARDOS) of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
The mayor, Andrés García, and the councilman of the branch, Víctor Balsas, visited this infrastructure, which presented a considerable state of deterioration, in order to officially open this recreational space that has new games and a surface adapted to European regulations in this area.
The space has opened coinciding with the end of the patron saint festivities of Santa Eulalia after just over three weeks of work.
The area has more than 900 square meters and has a continuous pavement of more than three centimeters, with new anti-vandalism games.
This play area for children has not been opened before the public, as a preventive measure, in order to preserve it during the days that were held in the immediate vicinity of the Day Fair, thus avoiding possible vandalism in the area.
The works of rehabilitation of the playground of the park have been executed by the commercial "Wondergrass, SL", for the total price of 81,070 euros, of which the Autonomous Community subsidizes 74,500 euros of the total of the work.
In addition, as reported by the council, the project includes numerous improvements such as the public lighting of the site, the replacement of new banks and the placement of more games added to those already existing previously.
They have also taken advantage of these actions to undertake gardening work, through the pruning and conditioning of existing trees in the area.
The municipal officials have shown their satisfaction to value this public space through the rehabilitation of a recreational space that is the most central, popular and extensive of the existing parks and gardens of the urban area, an adaptation that was necessary for time and that will benefit the users of this locality.
The councilor has highlighted the management in this area with respect to the previous term and has made a balance of the actions that have been undertaken in these more than two and a half years in the area of ​​parks and gardens.
In this regard, he stressed that the "Diego Manzano" has been rehabilitated in the High Age, the "Tierno Galván" and "La Cárcel" have been renovated, a new one has been built in Triptolemos and numerous actions have been undertaken in others to adapt them to the community regulations.
He recalled that, at present, comprehensive renovation works are being undertaken in order to improve the "Buero Vallejo" Garden, located in the Tirol-Camilleri neighborhood, which presented a great state of neglect and very deteriorated.
Councilman Balsas has also reported that in the first quarter of 2018 are going to undertake, also, improvement actions in the parks of the parish of El Paretón and the gardens "Narciso Yepes" and Blue Park next to the Convent of Three Hail Marys-, these last two in the urban case of Totana.
The mayor has commented that so far in the legislature, between resources of the municipality and the Autonomous Community have been invested in the improvement of our parks and gardens a figure that exceeds 230,000 euros;
and has urged users to care and maintain it.
For his part, the mayor has praised the work done by the councils involved to make this project a reality and has called for the preservation of this area for children's games.
Regarding the bar-cafeteria service of the municipal park "Marcos Ortiz", the first mayor recalled that the winning company resigned by rescinding the contract and has indicated that a new list of conditions is being prepared to meet the existing needs;
and announced that there are already bidders to cover this much needed service especially in the summer season.
