The mayor of Totana, Andrés García, has recently met with the Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, in order to transfer numerous demands on health matters for this municipality, including improvements in public services of health centers and the office of El Paretón and the implantation of new medical specialties.
During the meeting, framed within the round of meetings that the first mayor is holding with the heads of the regional Executive, he was also accompanied by the Councilor for Health totanera, Isabel María Molino, and the general director of Health Care Murciano Health Service, Roque Martínez Escandell.
Among the needs and demands raised by the municipal government highlighted the opening of the Radiology Service, in the afternoon and on holidays, as a reinforcement to the Emergency Service.
In addition, the counselor was asked to implement consultations of new medical specialties, such as Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Traumatology and Mental Health for the special care of these patients and taking into account that there are facilities with little use in the Totana-Sur Health Center.
The municipal officials asked for reinforcement of Matrona for three days a week, since in Totana there are circumstances to increase this service, given that the waiting period for a first consultation is around four months.
The meeting was also used to request the reimplantation of the afternoon consultations, since their absence causes important work harms to the patients;
as well as to avoid the reduction of the medical service in the office of El Paretón-Cantareros during the months of the summer, in which this deputation increases its population to count on numerous houses of second residence, indicates the mayor of Health.
In addition, several demands were made on the operation of the Physiotherapy Service in Totana, requesting the hiring of an assistant to assist in the transfer of patients (in many cases they must leave patients with reduced mobility without the necessary care because they can not continue with the therapies of the rest), informs Isabel María Molino.
In this regard, they also requested the hiring of another physiotherapist more full time (Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), the acquisition of more machines and instruments for therapeutic sessions and not closing the service during the periods vacations (in August the service is closed for staff vacations, not replacing it and increasing waiting lists).
After the opening of Totana-South Health Center, the service has remained the same, without duplicating it or hiring more staff at the Totana-North Health Center, as explained by the councilor for Health.
