The mayor and president of the La Santa Foundation, Andrés García, and the parish priest of Santiago and vice president of this entity, Francisco José Fernández, presented the program of religious events organized for the celebration of the next patron saint festivities of Santa Eulalia, and that will concentrate basically on the weekend of December 8 to 10.
The program starts on Friday, December 8 with the Holy Mass in the Shrine of the Patron, from 8:00 am, prior to the transfer in pilgrimage, an hour later, the image of Santa Eulalia from Merida to the city of Totana.
That same day, at 12 o'clock, will be celebrated the reception of the Patron in the place of El Rulo by the civil and religious authorities and the neighbors and faithful in general, before the transfer to the hermitage of San Roque.
The next day, on Saturday, December 9, at 12:00 a holy mass will be celebrated in the hermitage of San Roque;
and in the afternoon, at 5:00 p.m., there will be a processional transfer of the image of Santa Eulalia to the parish of Santiago, where it will remain during all the festivities and Christmas, until January 13, when it returns, again in pilgrimage, to his sanctuary.
In the evening, at 9:00 p.m., the traditional serenade to the Patron Saint will be celebrated in the parish of Santiago, with the participation of the local musical groups "Los Charrasqueados" and "Choir Santa Cecilia".
In addition, on Sunday, December 10, at 11:00 a.m., the feast of Santa Eulalia, the solemn Eucharist will take place in honor of the Patron Saint in the parish church of Santiago.
In the afternoon, at 5:00 p.m., there will be the solemn procession with the image of Santa Eulalia through the main streets of the city center.
The program of religious acts ends on Sunday December 17, at 12:00, with the wreath, with the concentration of the participants in the Convent to leave in the direction of the Plaza de la Constitución, where this traditional act will be held to Santa Eulalia de Mérida.
This day, coinciding with the wreath, the masses will be suppressed from 12:00 in the church of Santiago and from 13:00 in the Three Hail Marys, respectively.
The pilgrimage of the return of the Patron Saint to her Shrine will be celebrated on January 13.
At 8:00 am will be the Holy Mass in the parish of Santiago, prior to the transfer in pilgrimage from 9:00 am.
At 12:00 noon will be the reception of the image and celebration of the Eucharist in its sanctuary.
Finally, from December 11 to 19 the solemn novena will be celebrated to the Patron Saint, who, on this occasion, will preach the parish priest of Santiago El Mayor, Francisco José Fernández García, with the following schedules: working hours (7:30 pm) and holidays (7:00 pm).
