Civil Protection Volunteers in Totana are currently carrying out technical review work on the more than 150 hydrants distributed throughout the urban area and the El Saladar industrial estate within the maintenance program of the Fire Equipment Review Plan to develop this Local grouping.
Those responsible for these works have reviewed a total of 61 hydrants in the industrial estate "El Saladar" and the rest are those that are distributed in different neighborhoods of the urban area, among them, ten located in the avenue rambla of La Santa, where Celebrates the weekly market. In addition, we have reviewed the hydrants located in the urbanization "La Cérámica", the urbanization "The Bascula", Triptolemos, El Parral and fairground, the urbanization "La Charca", Residencial Espuña, , Urbanization "The Bascula" and the Plaza de la Constitución, among others.
The technicians, who have to perform these tasks at least once a year, must also check the accessibility of the environment and the signaling in the buried hydrants and carry out a visual inspection checking the watertightness of the whole.
In addition, they take advantage to remove the covers of the exits, to grease the threads and to check the state of the joints of the fittings.
The drive nuts are also greased or the oil chamber is filled, and the hydrant is opened and closed, checking for correct operation of the main valve and the drainage system.
In any case, the Municipal Water Service is given part of those systems that present pressure difficulties or do not directly function for their correction.
