The Directorate General for Water of the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries has assigned to the City of Totana the execution of a budget item for a total amount of 387,600, corresponding to the General Budget of the Autonomous Community of Murcia of the year 2017, for the project to improve the water supply network in this municipality.
This budget line, included in Law 1/2017, of 9 January, of the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community for the 2017 financial year and in the Accounting System of the Region of Murcia (SIGEPAL) is created by amendment and agreement of the Assembly Regional, with the mentioned initial credit, as has been certified to the Consistory totanero.
The Plenum of the Regional Assembly approved last December the regional budgets of 2017 with the vote in favor of the Popular Party, Abstention of Citizens and against the PSOE and We.
The budgets included 87 amendments to the orange formation worth around 32 million euros, including one corresponding to the supply and improvement of drinking water service in the municipality of Totana, with a total investment of 400,000 euros.
Among the measures of the Adjustment Plan approved at the time by the municipal government, was the initiative to make investments in the water network through an investment plan for improvements in the network for a total amount of 1.2 million euros, Financed in its entirety by the Autonomous Community of Murcia under a multi-annual investment agreement.
The mayor, Andrés García, has evaluated in a very positive way this initial investment that will allow the City Council to continue with the management of the municipal water service as before,
And will make it possible to initiate a necessary investment plan that will allow us to save on water consumption, with less being paid to the Commonwealth of Taibilla Channels.
The first mayor thanked both the parliamentary groups that supported the initiative and the regional government their commitment to the municipal institution of Totana and the residents of this town to make this historic demand that will come to improve the precarious supply network of this service .
Andrés García has pointed out that the drinking water distribution network is now in a yield of just over 50%, so the goal is to reach 80%;
Which would be an acceptable yield;
And recalled that this initiative is the result of the efforts made by him both with the spokesmen of the parliamentary groups and with the heads of regional government competent in this matter during these more than two years.
