The Mayor, Andrés García, accompanied by the Councilor for Town Planning, Carlos Ballester, recently visited the improvement works of the RM-C8 road, which connects the town of Totana with its hamlet of Viñas-Carivete, in order to know its State of execution, since they have already entered their final stage of execution.
This is the main access to the archaeological site of La Bastida, whose actions are financed by the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure and the budget for the award of works is 544.205 euros, and had a term of execution of five months.
The works consist of the cleaning of ditches and weeds of slopes in order to improve the visibility of the road and its drainage, as well as to avoid the dragging of materials to the highway roadway or the gutters.
The existing irrigation canal is also being piped along the roadway, in a 150-meter section, and the reconstruction of storm drains for stormwater collection.
Reinforcement of concrete and slope retaining walls is also reinforced, the stabilization of the road platform and the ditch lining is improved and vertical and horizontal signaling is restored, beaconing and placement of metal barriers and concrete sidewalks.
This road, along its eight kilometers, was in poor condition due to the traffic it supports annually, with an average intensity of 60,000 vehicles.
