On Friday 16 June, from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm, a day of blood donation will be celebrated in the plenary hall of the City Council of Totana, promoted by the Department of Health in collaboration with the Regional Hemodonation Center.
The Councilor for Health, Isabel María Molino, and the Head of Promotion of the Regional Hemodonation Center, Toñi Gómez, presented this initiative that is celebrated on the occasion of Blood Donor Day, which is commemorated every June 14.
This solidarity initiative aims to improve the blood resources of hospitals in the autonomous community, which is aimed at the staff of municipal workers and public employees, members of the municipal corporation and neighbors in general who want to collaborate with it.
A mobile team with the necessary health operations will move that day to the plenary hall of the Consistory for five hours to care for blood donors and anyone who wants to become a bone marrow donor.
According to them, the donation rate in Totana stands at 58.53% donations per thousand inhabitants, higher than the regional average of 36%.
In the municipality of Totana, there are 2,700 active donors, and last year 38 donations were made in the day of extractions that took place in the Consistorio totanero.
The initiative is part of the campaign that the Regional Hemodonation Center will develop in the municipalities of Murcia in the coming weeks with the motto "No matter how you are, what is important is what you need," and that is aimed basically at the youth population .
The municipality of Totana is in the third place in the regional ranking of donations, only behind the municipalities of Ulea and Jumilla, which are in first and second place, respectively.
The Councilor for Health, Isabel María Molino, encourages the usual neighbors and donors to participate in this day open to the general public and, especially, to the younger age group, between 18 and 30 years, as well as to the Donors of all types of blood in general and to all social groups.
