Primary school pupils from different schools of Totana students participated in different workshops and awareness activities to commemorate the World Environment Day, held in the municipal park and which had the invaluable collaboration of the Association " Project Abraham ".
In addition, the participants, together with the municipal authorities, read the institutional manifesto on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The event was read by the mayor, Juan José Cánovas, Councilor for the Environment, Agustín Gonzalo Martínez, and the councilors Isabel María Molino, Antonia Camacho and Gertrudis Ruiz.
This association, which promotes a model of social economy, ecological and solidarity with the collection of clothing, shoes and toys, has wanted to collaborate this year with this celebration with the Department of Environment of the City of Totana.
Thus, two workshops and games aimed at schools with the environmental theme of waste recycling have been carried out.
The participating schools were the schools "Santa Eulalia", "San José", "Reina Sofía", "Tierno Galván" and "Santiago", which have passed through this infrastructure throughout different hours throughout the morning.
The technicians of this organization offered participants a brief introduction on the Law of 4 rd: reduce, reuse, recycle and recover, and the importance of keeping our environment without waste.
Each of the groups was then divided into three subgroups to perform the different activities and to rotate for each of them, so that workshops were conducted based on the reuse and recycling of waste and animals such as owls, octopus or dragons From rolls of toilet paper and bracelets were made with plastic bottles and fabrics.
We will also carry out popular games modified to work the recycling culture with the aim, all of this, to raise awareness among minors about the importance of collaborating in the reuse and recycling of waste in order to conserve the environment in which we live.
MANIFESTO WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY JUNE 5
The United Nations Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm in 1972 marked the beginning of the inclusion of environmental protection and enhancement among the objectives of the general policy of nations and institutions.
Little by little, this concern for the environment has been increasing and today more and more the number of actions that are carried out to preserve it and to avoid further deterioration.
Therefore, the United Nations Organization wanted to establish June 5 as World Environment Day, in order to remember that it is the responsibility of all to maintain the conservation of the environment in which we live.
That is why the celebration of this Day is repeated year after year in various parts of the world with events or celebrations that have the common goal of inviting people to become involved in the protection of nature and the pursuit of sustainable development.
On June 5, which is currently considered one of the most important events in the environmental calendar, it is celebrated annually in more than one hundred countries worldwide.
This observation helps to highlight some of the ways in which human actions endanger the planet and stress the urgent need to change their attitudes and behaviors.
This date serves as an inspiration for political and community measures.
Governments, individuals, non-governmental organizations, community and youth groups, the business and industrial sectors and the media organize activities to renew their commitment to the protection and conservation of the environment.
