From Juventudes Socialistas de Totana we want to launch today on the global day against genital mutilation a joint campaign with our colleagues in the region called #PorUnaEuropaSinCuchillas.
We want to state that this is a violation of the human rights of both women and girls.
This also reflects the great inequality between the sexes and the role that women must play in the society we live in.
Addressing this problem is everyone's job, since it is a reality that today women live in societies close to our own.
Our Secretary General Pedro Martinez believes that the problem lies in the education of those cultures that prefer this practice rather than the freedom of their women and also insists that it is not only a problem of education but also a health problem since the Mutilation occurs in many cases in conditions that are not appropriate for an intervention, endangering the lives of women.
Juventudes de Totana insists that it is important to claim the whole society a fair treatment, so we want to ask the institutions a faithful commitment on these positions
