The councilors of Environment, Agustin Gonzalo Martinez, Environmental Education, Isabel Maria Molino and Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), Antonia Camacho, presented the public awareness campaign entitled "Let's separate fine, recycle better," promoted by the City of Totana and covering several actions to increase proper waste management.
This initiative is jointly held by the departments of Environment, Waste and Environmental Education in collaboration with the company "Ecoembalajes Spain, SA", with which aims to promote selective recycling and includes various actions and competitions environmental awareness.
These actions fall within the framework of cooperation between the Autonomous Community agreement, through the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment, and that company.
The basic objective of the initiative is to develop tasks of environmental awareness aimed at the population of Totana on separate collection of light packaging and paper and cardboard basically raising awareness of the importance of source separation of packaging for subsequent deposit in the container appropriate for treatment and recycling.
With this campaign, which will be launched through the mass and specific public actions communication, we want to raise awareness of the importance of participating in waste recycling, achieving an increase in the rate of recycling ;
and promote the separation of waste at source.
In addition, we want to report the correct use of green dots, reduce the percentage of "improper" from the blue and yellow containers and achieve an increase in the rate of waste recycling.

The campaign runs from November 4 until December 19;
and it includes the completion of two contests: the IV Contest "Recycle and Win" aimed at the entire population in general;
and drawing III "In recycling, you paint a lot," in which students participate 6th of Primary Education of all schools in Totana.
They also will develop various actions of public awareness on the issue of information draft and dissemination, as shares of informative work in institutional platforms, environmental education talks and awards in each contests to encourage citizen participation and school .

III contest "In recycling, you paint a lot"
The III contest "In recycling, you paint a lot" is aimed at students of 6th of Primary Education for all schools in the municipality and aims to achieve greater involvement of children in the culture of recycling, fostering in students the separation of light packaging waste and waste paper and cardboard for subsequent deposit in the yellow and blue containers.
Contestants must reflect clearly in their works, which in the yellow briks, cans and plastic containers and are deposited in the blue container, packaging paper and cardboard, newspapers and magazines.
As stated in the rules, any technique or plastics or artistic process, such as photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, etc. used.
The term that will be available to perform the work will be from November 8th to the 30th of the same month.
The work will be delivered to the tutor, or, if the teacher responsible for the competition.
Environmental educator, responsible for organizing and managing the contest, pick up the work at the center on Dec. 1;
so that once collected all the drawings, they are taken to the Department of Environment, where he will proceed to the vote by the jury of three winners.

The awards ceremony will take place in a public ceremony to be held in the hall of the City Council, on 19 December at 12.00.
IV competition "Recycle and Win"
With the IV contest "Recycle and Win" it is intended to convey the importance of responsible consumption of limited environmental resources by adopting sustainable behaviors and habits with the environment.
Furthermore, it aims to foster a positive and critical attitude that leads to a decrease in waste generation;
and learn the correct separation of packaging for recycling.
To do this, it will give citizens a prize rewards the effort from their homes performing work of separation of waste plastic containers, cans and cartons, and cartons, paper, newspapers and magazines, and later deposit in its corresponding container.
It will deliver a card participation to any person to turn to the Green Mobile (assembly formed by the mobile information point PIM and containers for recycling containers and cardboard) with their waste and deposit them correctly.
The card, duly completed, with your name and phone number, the entered into an urn, where the cards of participants eligible for the award will be collected.
The contest will begin on November 9 and will end on 29th of the same month;
and the schedule for the reception of participants will be from 10.00 to 13.00 hours (in the morning) and 17.00 to 19.30 (evening).

The prize is a one night stay for two people in a three star hotel in a resort Murcia, in full board.
