Totana City Council has planned next Sunday, October 23 (12:00) a tribute to the memory of the eleven residents of Totana and Aledo who were shot in October 1939 in the southern wall of the municipal cemetery "Our Señora del Carmen "in Totana, and whose remains were found in a mass grave.
The event, promoted by the Consistory, is the opening of a headstone and held following the latest research on this fact local history by psychologist and historian, Alfonso Cayuela, neighbor and lover of history of Totana.
The initiative aims to restore the memory of those neighbors of Totana and Aledo who were killed after a summary trial and were buried in a mass grave located in the present San Roque street of the town cemetery.
Totana Town Council has already taken this legislative measures to restore the historical memory with removing permanently from the nine streets street with Francoist references, and their replacement by other nominations that have affected about 900 residents of the town.
