The Mayor of Totana, Juan José Canovas, met recently at City Hall with the new Commander of the Air Quartering Espuña and Squadron Air Surveillance No. 13 (EVA-13), Juan Carlos Giz Paz, in the context of a institutional meeting following his recent inauguration early last August.
The meeting is part of the presentations of the new Head of the EVA-13 to local authorities, since the Quartering Air enclave is located in the municipality of Totana.
The new commander Chief Air Surveillance Squadron No. 13 and relieve Ricardo Acebal Bernal, who has been the head of this military unit during the last three years.
The Mayor described the meeting with the new military leadership as "very cordial" and wished him the new head of EVA-13 the biggest professional and personal success in this new stage begun.

Commander Juan Carlos Giz Paz has played his professional work in various units of the Air Force and has participated in several international missions, as well as numerous domestic operations and exercises.
It also has the decorations of the Cross of Aeronautical Merit with distinctive blue (for actions, events or special services carried out in operations derived from a UN mandate or under other international organizations), the Cross of Military Merit with white emblem, the Cross of the Royal and Military Order of San Hermenegildo, and the NATO medal Art. 5 ISAF.
He is also a creditor of Distinction for Operations Peacekeeping, the Emblem Launch and Permanency Forces paratroopers and two honorable mentions.
The mayor and attended, along with other members of the Municipal Corporation, on August 2, in the Red Pepper Espuña, the military act of ceremony of inauguration of the Headquarters of the aforementioned unit of the Air Force .
The event was chaired by Brigadier General Francis M. Almerich Simo, Chief General Command and Control System, part of the Air Combat Command Air Force.

Air Surveillance Squadron No. 13 was established in May 1994, sharing the settlement with the CT-5 Army;
