The Department of Industry and Economic Development plans to conduct a needs assessment to bring broadband to the industrial estate "El Saladar", thus improving the communications network of companies based there.
This was one of the initiatives that emerged from the meeting last July between the Mayor of Totana, Juan José Canovas, and the councilor of this department, Antonia Camacho, the general director Simplification of Business Activity and the Digital Economy Francisco in April, he visited Totana to sign the agreement for the "Replay" project for the free transfer of full municipal Internet.
This measure would be implemented with the collaboration of the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment, which wants the special economic interest areas, such as industrial estates, have access to the Internet via ultra-fast broadband.
To this end, a study has started in all municipalities in the region to identify areas lacking this infrastructure, including the Totana, willing to join this initiative.
They will also benefit from this action administrative areas at risk of digital exclusion, such as municipal offices that do not have high-speed connectivity and ICT services, which not only allowed to take connection to these offices, but will endow a broadband infrastructure the entire area where these offices are located.
According to the latest report from the National Institute of Statistics, 99.2 percent of our businesses are connected to the Internet, but there are still a few that do not through broadband.
The councilor explained that "what we want with this action is that all companies have high-speed connection, which allow them to be more productive and efficient."
In the first phase of the study, Totana shall identify sites of the municipality that are likely to benefit from these actions and submit them to the Community for study and analysis.
These actions are funded by the Ministry and European Funds for Regional Development (ERDF).
