The Sports Council wants to recognize the work and solidarity gesture made last July 28 swimmers, totaneros Guerao José Miguel Cano, 58;
and Jose Martinez Ballester, 42, who toured the whitewater swim the Strait of Gibraltar.
The swimmers, both trained at the Center for Health and Sports "MOVE" of Totana, culminating more than 10 nautical miles, between 18.5 and 22 kilometers due to ocean currents, including Tarija (Cádiz) and Punta Cires (Morocco).
Athletes completed the journey in about four hours and sixteen minutes
and they did so for the benefit of associations of rare diseases "D'Genes" and "AELIP" respectively.
With their joint action, through the income received for this sporting feat, they helped in their daily living expenses of the Multidisciplinary Center "Celia Carrion Perez de Tudela".
Now, a few months later, both wished to thank, with the delivery of a protocol gifts, entities that collaborated in this sporting initiative, the Department of Sports, the Sports Center "MOVE" and two associations of rare diseases.
The Councillor for Sports, Maria Isabel Molino, received from swimmers a formal detail;
and she said that with gestures like this sport is dignified;
while he commended and encouraged to continue this remarkable sporting career.
