The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, has recognized the involvement and the effort made by the President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, to stand up and help the municipalities with the financial situation of asphyxia caused by the economic crisis against government neglect of the nation.
According to the first Alderman, this situation is more acute by the nefarious actions of the National Government, determined to be the middle class households and SMEs who pay the consequences of bad management.
Martínez Andreo highlighted Valcárcel contrast with the attitude of the Government of the nation and its president, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who forgets the establishment of a stable funding framework to allow councils meet current expenditures derived from services provided to citizens.
In this regard, said that the regional government knows no political color to respond to the real problems of the consistory.
Totanero Mayor pointed out that the municipalities are the government closest to citizens and therefore most affected by economic difficulties and the worst hit because users continue to demand the same services as long or longer.
The mayor reiterated that the historic debt that the Government of Spain has with the town of Totana, under unrecognized population growth and the provision of services to those of the State, amounts to 25 million euros and said that the latest measures announced by the Socialist government are an attack on social rights of pensioners, mothers, dependents and government employees.
In addition, reports that in 2009 the National Government to Totana transferred 417,000 euros each month in taxes each of the totaneros, however, and in the first month of 2010 has recorded a drop of 11 percent 347,000 euros, 43,000 euros less each month that the City fails to receive the money that it deserves.
