| Highlighting the role, work and effort of women in the literary field | The Department of Equality publishes a video to commemorate the International Day of Women Writers today, with which it is intended to highlight the great role, work and effort of women in the world of letters under the slogan "The daily effort of women ". Throughout the years, women have been totally invisible in the literary field, even at certain times having to sign their works with a pseudonym.The Councilor for Equality, Javier Baños, and several writers from Totana who recite or read some texts on the occasion of this commemoration, as a result of the pandemic, cannot be done physically or in person.Women Writers' Day is a commemoration that began in Spain in October 2016 to recover the legacy of women writers, make the work of women in literature visible and combat the discrimination they have suffered throughout history.1 The annual celebration is held on the Monday closest to the date of October 15, the feast of Teresa de Jesús.The Day of the Writers arose at the initiative of the National Library of Spain, the Classic and Modern Association and the Spanish Federation of Women Directors, Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs (FEDEPE) to compensate for the historical discrimination of women in literature.1
