Totanero restorer Domingo García Espejo had to completely disassemble it and send the silver pieces to another Sevillian workshop to guarantee the survival of the Sepulcher, as Domingo says. Domingo García had to completely dismantle the Sepulcher, literally destroyed by woodworm.
The Cofradía de Jesús Nazareno has recovered the oldest piece that is preserved from the Malian Holy Week, completely restored.García lovingly restored all the woods in his workshop in Totana, while the silver pieces were restored by the Sevillian goldsmith Antonio Santos.
A meticulous work that has also been affected by the pandemic, which has delayed the return of the Sepulcher for six months, as Domingo says. The value of the Sepulcher goes beyond its artistic worth.
