The MCT grants the Casa del Guarda to the City Council (02/10/2020)

| For its future revitalization by carrying out cultural, social and sports activities in the youth field | The Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla (MCT) yesterday formally yielded the Casa del Guarda to the Totana City Council; an infrastructure located in a place of extraordinary environmental value, which will be used once it is reformed for different future uses of public interest after repeated requests and municipal procedures.This emblematic building will be conditioned for its revitalization by carrying out cultural, sports and free time activities; above all, aimed at social groups in the youth field.The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, and the councilor for Youth, Inmculada Blázquez, received the keys to this infrastructure from the MCT employees in this area.The first mayor of Totana already received the express commitment last March in a meeting at the headquarters of this body in Cartagena, from its president, Francisca Baraza and the general secretary, José Manuel Fuentes, respectively.This infrastructure is located in the Cordones Sifón, in La Calzona; Property of the MCT, in the case of a house characteristic of the constructions of this organization that has been uninhabited for decades.In addition, it is located in a strategic place, a short distance from the urban area and very close to the Tira del Lienzo site, the Sports City and almost at the limits of the Sierra Espuña natural park.The Plenary already approved a motion in August 2016, an initiative of the Councilor for Youth, Inmaculada Blázquez, also in this regard.

In this case, the construction referred to, once served as a home for the family of the guard in the area.For many years, it has been in disuse, which has caused its deterioration and could be the perfect place for youth activities, such as rehearsal room for local groups, workshops, social space for groups, organization of routes to know the environment , among other.In turn, the transfer of this house to the City Council by MCT, will mean putting the construction into use and thus stopping the deterioration suffered due to abandonment, undertaking various reforms that are necessary for its completion.
