PSOE: The lack of foresight of the Councilor for Education, Agustín Gonzalo, is one more example of his inability to manage his councils (04/09/2020)

Last Monday 31st, at the request of the socialist group, the Municipal School Council met.

For this, the PSOE contributed a series of proposals that were ignored in the notice of the call, by the Councilor for Education Agustín Gonzalo, who however, and to our surprise, made them his own during the meeting.One of the main questions raised by the PSOE was for the Councilor to clearly specify what resources and measures the City Council was going to put in order, within its powers, to support a safe start to the school year.

Here he did not offer a precise answer, limiting himself to saying that he was going to expand the cleaning service and everything in his power and little else, but without specifying the number of professionals, or hours, or how he was going to do it.

This is a total and intolerable ambiguity for the current situation.The PSOE also asked the councilor to make a list of possible municipal spaces that meet the conditions of safety and well-being to offer them to local educational centers and, where appropriate, request the Ministry of Education to provide them with the necessary resources.

The unfortunate response of the councilor was that this was a toast to the sun, because the Regional Government has not hired more teachers and had not requested it.However, some educational centers in Totana have already requested and been granted the use of municipal spaces.

Specifically, the Reina Sofía requested the use of the Road Education Park and the Comarcal the use of the sports court and the annexed garden.From the PSOE we think that a previous list of available municipal resources would have been very useful for planning by all educational centers.

Furthermore, we do not consider either fair or transparent that the criteria for centers to choose a public space is: The one that requests it first.

Considering that there are other more fair criteria (number of students, specific needs of the center, among others).Curiously, it did not seem to Mr.

Agustín a toast to the Sun to encourage the creation of a Permanent Commission of the School Council, which only differed in the existence of one less member.

This seemed to be the star measure of his management and the response that the City Council must give to the current situation.Unfortunately, this lack of foresight is not only a lack of respect for the educational community, but one more example of its inability to manage yet another of its councils.

This disinterest cannot be the dominant trend in this legislature and we urge the councilor to get to work once and for all.
