The flags of the main public buildings of the Totana City Council are flying from today at half-mast, as a sign of mourning and respect for the deceased victims of the disease COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus.The measure comes to respond to requests made by municipal political groups in the Board of Spokespersons, especially the PP and VOX; as well as after the official announcement made yesterday by the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez.The norm comes to express "the pain and suffering of the totanera society, in recognition and respect to the deceased people in the Region of Murcia and in all Spain, victims of this pandemic".The President of the Government announced yesterday that, when most of the territory is already in phase 1 of the de-escalation, national mourning will be declared for the more than 26,000 victims of coronavirus in Spain.The flags will fly at half-staff, and when the whole country has passed the crisis, a great act of tribute to the victims of the virus will be organized, which will be chaired by the Head of State, King Felipe VI.For the moment, the flags on the façade of the town hall are already at half-staff and earlier this week those most relevant municipal buildings will do so, according to sources from the Mayor's Office.
