The Totana City Council today received from the Government Delegation in the Region of Murcia the 4,000 masks assigned by the Government of Spain to this municipality within the campaign activated to promote hygiene and healthy habits, which will be distributed from tomorrow to the workers who from this Monday will resume their work activity.
The COVID-19 Emergency Commission in Totana met this afternoon, in the Local Police Training Classroom, in order to activate the distribution protocol in order to ensure the health measures of workers who cannot carry out their telematic activity and among users of public transport.
The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, and representatives of the Local Police, Civil Guard and Civil Protection, who will be in charge of its proper distribution following the instructions of the Government Delegation, were present at the meeting.
This is an exceptional campaign that advocates guaranteeing health safety measures in displacements for work reasons and in those cases in which it is more difficult to maintain personal distance.
The distribution will be made during the hours of maximum mobility for travel to the workplace, mainly between 6:00 and 10:00, individually and not to companies, groups or private homes.
The members of these Security and Emergency Corps will distribute the main accesses and places with the greatest mobility of workers, such as entrances to industrial zones and estates, bus stops and intermodal stations, spaces for the concentration of agricultural laborers and any other that complies with the established conditions.
The masks will also be distributed among the members of the Security Corps and Forces, the Local Police and Civil Protection who continue to carry out security and emergency work on public roads to enforce the traffic and confinement regulations included in the state of alarm, as well as health recommendations to combat the coronavirus epidemic.
Likewise, it is recalled that the distribution of masks for workers is only a support for the health protection measures adopted by the Government of Spain and that it involves the essential reduction of citizen mobility and maximum observance of the hygiene and public health.
The Government Delegation will distribute 334,000 masks among those people in the Region of Murcia who have to move to work and it is more complex to maintain the safety distance.
The Ministry of Health recommends the use of masks for those workers who cannot telework or move in a private vehicle, bicycle or on foot and have to use public transport with a large influx of people.
