The Department of Equality of the City of Totana condemns and regrets the death of the last victim of gender violence that occurred this past weekend in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the second case since confinement began due to the state of alarm at the root of the coronavirus pandemic.
The victim was a 78-year-old woman who was allegedly killed this Saturday by her husband.
With this last case, the number of women murdered by gender violence in Spain amounts to 18 in 2020 and 1051 since 2003.
In addition, the Department of Equality recalls that in the municipality of Totana, the services for the care of victims continue to operate, considering them essential to maintain and seek their protection.
In this sense, the Center for Specialized Assistance to Victims of Gender Violence (CAVI) of this City Council continues to assist all women who are in this situation in coordination with the rest of professional resources involved in the care of victims of violence. of genre.
It is recalled that, given the exceptional confinement measures agreed and aware of the special vulnerability of those women who may be victims of gender-based violence, the Department wants to appeal to all of them and remind them that “They are not alone. "

The objective of this project is that women who are in a situation of risk or danger to their physical, psychological and sexual integrity, both in their closest family environment and on public roads, can approach the pharmacy and request a 'Mask 19'.
This slogan will serve so that the pharmaceutical personnel know that the woman is at possible risk and make a call to alert the emergency services of the situation, 016 in this case, which, from there, will indicate the steps to follow and the information they require, guaranteeing maximum discretion and confidentiality.
