The City Council of Totana strongly condemns and shows its institutional revulsion for the new case of gender violence in Fuenlabrada (Madrid), the thirteenth recorded in the year 2020 in Spain.
A man of 73 years has stabbed his wife, 75, at his home in Fuenlabrada and has tried to take his own life later.
This was the second case of sexist violence yesterday, after the case recorded in Aznalcóllar (Seville), where a woman has been killed by her partner with a shotgun.
The crime took place minutes before 1:00 pm yesterday Wednesday in an apartment located at number 11 of Miguel de Unamuno street in this Madrid town.
A neighbor of the victim has called emergency services alerting what happened and the National Police and Summa-112 have arrived to the place.
On the landing of the stairs of the building was a woman bleeding heavily and with a stab in the neck and another in the chest, desperately asking for help.
When the toilets arrived, he had already entered a cardiorespiratory arrest, which they managed to reverse.
However, when he was already in the ambulance on the way to the hospital he has suffered a cardiac arrest and has died.
On the other hand, in the house his partner was lying on the floor, and alleged homicide, who presented a stab in the abdomen and two in the neck.
He was stabilized by the toilets, who have transferred him in a very serious state, endangering his life, to the Hospital October 12 in Madrid.
The police are clear that this is a fatal case of gender violence and subsequent suicide attempt by the murderer.
For now, it is unknown if they were living together and if there was a history of sexist violence or restraining orders.
The murdered woman is the thirteenth in Spain in 2020. The year 2019 closed with 55 women killed at the hands of their partners or ex-partners, the highest figure for five years.
The number of women killed since 2003 - when an official statistic was created - amounts to 1,045, and the number of children killed 35. The 016 attends to all victims of sexist violence 24 hours a day and in 51 languages.
The Consistory totanero emphasizes the need to work together to stop and end this social scourge so that the need to raise awareness from education to avoid behaviors that incite inequality between men and women.
Against gender violence, a common front of "Zero Tolerance" must be made;
because not only people who die murdered at the hands of their partners must be remembered, but also those who suffer every day in their homes any type of physical or psychological violence.
