The City of Totana strongly condemns and shows its institutional revulsion for the new case of gender violence in Aznalcóllar (Seville), the twelfth recorded so far in 2020 in Spain.
A 51-year-old man has shot dead with a shotgun at his wife, María del Mar Castro, 43, in this Sevillian town, and has subsequently committed suicide.
The sexist murder occurred at the family home of the marriage, where the couple's four-year-old son was, who has two other children aged 20 and 15.
About the man, a mining profession and amateur hunter who has had several authorized weapons removed, there were no previous complaints, orders for removal from ill-treatment, nor did he have a record, according to police sources.
The neighbors alerted at 23.50 to the emergency services of the shooting and shouting of the child, which were heard at number 6 of the Pedro Gómez del Castillo street of the Sevillian municipality, adjacent to the City Hall.
The victim was a housewife.
The murdered woman is the 12th in Spain in 2020. The year 2019 closed with 55 women killed at the hands of their partners or ex-partners, the highest figure for five years.
