During this week the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (CHS) is carrying out cleaning and avenues prevention work in the Totana waterways, at the request of the Department of Works and Infrastructure in order to improve the maintenance of these infrastructures and avoid thus possible floods due to obstruction of its channels.
The councilor of the branch, Pedro José Sánchez, reported that last January the City Council informed the technicians of the CHS the most urgent needs that existed in the municipality in this area in order to undertake priority work.
Thus, the need to carry out cleaning and conditioning tasks in the El Paretón Canal was transferred, as well as the replacement of fords at the crossroads at their intersection with the riverbeds.
During these days the works are being undertaken on the Rambla de La Santa.
The works are allowing the cleaning of the entire route of the waterways that run through the municipality of Roquetas de Mar, in order to avoid possible flooding due to obstruction of its channels.
The works of cleaning the channels are fundamental so that the streams fulfill their mission, and drain the water in times of intense or torrential rains;
as well as the replacement of the surface at the intersections of roads with the channels of the ramblas.
It is a very necessary action in the municipality, not only for flood prevention, but also with the aim of improving the image of the rural and urban environment.
