The Local Government Board has recently approved a proposal to initiate the procedure to determine the healthy roads and itineraries of the municipality of Totana that may come into consideration of these characteristics.

Thus, at the initiative of the Municipal Group Ganar Totana-IU, the establishment of the conditions of such healthy itineraries has been approved, which must meet the following conditions:

Limit these roads to a maximum speed of 20 km / h, understanding that their use for road traffic must be compatible with other forms of traffic such as cycling or walking

Establish the signaling corresponding to the beginning and end of these routes

Place horizontal signs along the roads that indicate priority for vehicles without motor and pedestrians.

In addition, the Department of Mobility will inform the population of the itineraries that will adapt to these conditions, once the study process is finished.

There are several routes in Totana that, due to their own characteristics (proximity to the town center and connection between hamlets), are very frequented and traveled by people and non-motorized vehicles, especially in the summer periods.

These roads, in turn, form traffic lanes for road traffic, which causes some dangerous situations to be generated, motivated by this hybrid use that gives these roads both a pedestrian walkway and a traffic lane. of traffic.

These facts motivate the need to establish a special regulation in these ways so that these uses can be compatible with each other, guaranteeing the safety of pedestrians in any case.

Within the actions of adaptation of healthy itineraries and compatible with the sports practice that are carried out in urban areas throughout the Region of Murcia, we consider that they have a fundamental fit the adaptation of these interurban routes but very practiced by the population of the municipality.
