The City of Totana strongly condemns and shows its institutional revulsion for the new case of gender violence in Moraira (Alicante), the eleventh recorded so far in 2020.
Eleven women have been killed by their partners or ex-partners so far this year to which we must add the daughter of one of the victims, killed on Kings Day at the hands of her own father.
The last case to be confirmed was that of the 36-year-old woman found in a garbage container in Moraira, Alicante.
The body had several stab wounds and some of them would show that he tried to defend himself against his murderer.
This murder leaves the victim's son, a minor, an orphan, so there are already four children who are orphaned because of gender violence since 2020.
This confirms that the body of a woman found last Monday, February 17 in a garbage container corresponds to the eleventh murder for gender violence so far in 2020, amounting to 1,044 since 2003.
The murderer confessed to the crime is a 59-year-old man with whom the victim had a romantic relationship and had a history of gender-based violence, he even had a restraining order towards the murdered woman who would have expired.
The Consistory totanero emphasizes the need to work together to stop and end this social scourge so that the need to raise awareness from education to avoid behaviors that incite inequality between men and women is stressed.
Against gender violence, a common front of "Zero Tolerance" must be made;
because not only people who die murdered at the hands of their partners must be remembered, but also those who suffer every day in their homes any type of physical or psychological violence.
