It has been more than two years since the President of the Region, in view of the elections, promised totaneros and totaneras that he would build a Center for Primary Mental Health Care, but Totana is a municipality forgotten by the right when there are no elections .

The PSOE of Totana not only denounces these lies, but we are also being subjected to unfair discrimination with respect to other municipalities in this matter.

Without going any further, Aguilas, with a population similar to our municipality, already has this type of center for many years.

According to the Statistical Portal of the Region of Murcia, the evolution of consultations in the area of ​​psychiatry in the Region of Murcia 39,653 consultations in 2011 to 48,319 in 2017. Sadly our municipality does not escape this reality, being the municipality that has the most psychiatric hospitalizations in the Center of Mental Health of Lorca, as we have come to know through the officials who work in this center.

Among the reasons that probably explain this sad reality that our neighbors suffer better is that in Totana there is no Primary Care Mental Health Center that offers adequate preventive care.

Apart from the great economic and time inconveniences that come with having to move to Lorca for this type of primary care, there is the obstacle of the long lists expects that the Lorca Mental Health Center suffers and that they sometimes extend during months

All these are nothing more than inconveniences that make an early treatment more difficult that effectively avoids the serious consequences for the patient that leads to hospitalization.

In addition to this it means an increase in spending for the coffers of the Murciano Health Service, as it is always known that prevention is better than cure.

These are the reasons why the Municipal Socialist Group has claimed in the last plenary of January 2020 that the President of the CARM fulfill its promises and build once and for all a Mental Health Center of Primary Care in Totana.
