The Plenary Session of the City Council of Totana will request to the Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla the provision of water to the deputation of La Sierra and the municipality of Totana from the Montisol deposit, with a measurement meter and the necessary pipes to connect in municipal networks, as was done in the district of Lébor or in the deposit of the Camino de Los Secanos.
This initiative will be carried out by virtue of a motion promoted by the Mayor's Office that will be debated in the ordinary plenary session this February.
According to the motion, in 2005 and in the framework of investments of the Program of Actions for the Management and Use of Water (WATER), the Central Government made an investment, around 2,300,000 euros to provide joint supply to the Aledo municipality, with the construction of a drive from the Huerta road to a new warehouse in a supply depot located in the upper area of the Montisol urbanization.
That important investment in facilities was never launched and today, 15 years later, it is announced that Aledo has requested to join the Taibilla, preparing this public entity, the facilities to launch that important infrastructure that will serve the neighboring municipality and whose Investment has been made for years.
In these times, the only utility of this work has been the provision of water to a part of the network of Virgen de las Huertas de Totana that came to solve the serious problems suffered by the neighbors of Los Huertos and La Charca, until the action carried out by this City Council in the summer of 2015 when it was connected to the Huerta road network, from the inlet pipe to the Aledo Drive.
As indicated by the mayor's motion, it is a great opportunity to launch this work to request the Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla, the provision from that deposit, with an independent exit and counter that supplies the Sanctuary of La Santa, the buildings and public services, the hotel and the private homes of the Strait.
Also the housing area from the Arco de Aledo to the Camino de los Molejones, completing the Taibilla water service to the Tejera and Las Alquerías area.
With this operation, it would only be left uncovered by the water of the Taibilla, the Santa Leocadia site or the highlands of Las Alquerías that would continue to provide for the birth of Carrasca and Los Frailes.
With this operation, which would mean a minimum investment for Totana, it would be possible to lower the water bill that is now paid to the Aledo City Council, passing to the Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla whose rate is considerably lower than the current one.
In addition, stability in the water supply in La Santa and an important part of the La Sierra deputation (the most populous) would be guaranteed, considerably reducing maintenance costs, chlorination and water in the network and other very expensive operations in a highly network deficit for years, despite having no high cost.
A study would also begin for the use of surplus water from municipal births giving public utility to them, as well as financial measures that are part of the Adjustment Plan for compliance and consequent savings and search for balance of the Municipal Service of Waters
