The Municipal Equality Council met last Monday, February 3, in the session room, in order to evaluate and promote by its components the possible activities scheduled for 25-N, in order to improve those organized in years previous and encourage participation in them by citizens.
On the part of the Department of Equality are planning a series of activities that cover all sectors of the population, in this case, Children (holiday with interactive workshops in the Plaza de la Balsa Vieja), and Youth (concert of several groups and musical styles in the auditorium of the municipal park, formative talks, debates, etc.).
In addition, the associations expressed their opinion on how citizens could make visible this social scourge of gender violence, looking for spaces where the murdered women can be seen permanently, something that impacts us and calls the attention of public opinion.
In this regard, it advocates giving greater relevance to gender violence in society, so that we do not get used to the deaths at the hands of their partners or ex-partners, already showing some insensitivity.
Likewise, it was reported that it is being carried out in the different Secondary Education centers, among all students from 1st to 4th and training cycles, awareness initiatives and prevention of gender violence and toxic relationships.
This year it is considered appropriate to do, as in the previous year, and that they are the representatives of the students of the entire municipality of Totana, who read the institutional manifesto on the occasion of Women's Day at the door of the town hall, giving them the role of young people on this day and returning to remember the murdered until that moment.
The activities proposed by the associations must be presented on February 12 to allow time to carry out the program and be able to give it the widest possible dissemination;
while it was suggested to conduct a debate on radio and television to discuss March 8 and why this day.
It was also recalled that associations are the "speakers" of the meetings, so each representative must convey what is being done regarding equality within and outside their environment.
Finally, it was agreed that this year, as in the past year, the tribute to Totanera Women will be held at the restaurant "Venta La Rata", where there will be a representation of the associations to choose the menu and the different associations will present to their candidates for said act of recognition.
