The Plenary approves to urge the regional government not to implement the alleged express authorization or "parental pin" in the educational centers of the Autonomous Community (04/02/2020)

The Plenary Session of the City Council of Totana approved, at its last ordinary session, at the joint proposal of the municipal groups Ganar Totana-IU and PSOE, to urge the regional government not to carry out the implementation of the intended express authorization or parental pin in the educational centers of the Autonomous Community, ensuring in them the freedom of professorship and the fundamental constitutional values.

The agreement was established with the votes in favor of the Ganar Totana-IU and PSOE groups, against the PP and Vox and the abstention of the Mixed Municipal Group, which brings together C´s and Now Totana.

The motion was discussed, according to its expository part, before the news appeared in the Press and the statements made by relevant political positions of the regional government, the possibility of including the parental pin as a pre-agreement between the Popular Party, Citizens and Vox with the in order to unlock and carry out the Community Budgets for 2020.

According to the approved motion, the definition of parental pin or express authorization form of complementary activities, basically consists in the freedom on the part of the parents to be able to give their express consent for the minors to participate in complementary activities to the curriculum in the educational centers .

On the VOX website, this express authorization is explained on any subject, talk, workshop or activity that affects socially controversial moral issues or on sexuality that may be intrusive to the conscience and intimacy of the children, indicates the motion approved.

The motion of Win Totana-IU and the PSOE indicates that regardless of the dubious legality of these purposes since the decree that regulates the Primary and Secondary curricula in the Region establishes that the complementary activities are mandatory and evaluable, supposes the restriction of the fundamental rights of students, and of the autonomy of the educational centers.

As the joint proposal indicates, the initiative is directed, in fact, against the affective-sexual talks that are taught in schools, blocking activities and training against gender-based violence, as well as assistance to LGTBI equality content, by example.

Finally, it is indicated that denying the opportunity for students to know the different options on this topic does not make sense, just as in a broader nature there is the right to receive information and not to limit it: we must grow in values Who advocate human rights and teach in respect, advocates in motion.
