Some endearing dates that we all keep in the memory that come alive last November, preparing the descent of the image of our patron from the Sanctuary to the Church of Santiago.
Some dates that transform us and make us better, at Christmas doors and the beginning of the new year.
Tradition, memory, culture and devotion are mixed in a unique way in our town that receives its children from all parts of Spain and abroad, in that return to the roots and traditions that make us unique as a people.
We have evolved and grown in inhabitants in recent years and nobody feels outsider in Totana in the melting pot of nationalities that we live together and work for a better people in the diversity that enriches us.
These values -which are manifested through the centuries of existence as a people-, are what define Totana and give it a uniqueness in which we feel proud as a people of solidarity, welcoming and committed to the people that these days and during The year, we welcome each other.
Our character is like a seal of quality at the December Festivities that makes them participatory in their entirety.
For these reasons, although the dates are the same, we always find something different that enriches our celebrations in the wide and plural coexistence.
We live in complicated times, but we have never had it easy and I am sure that we will find the space and time to enjoy with family, friends or people who accompany us in a melting pot of values as our ancestors did, updated to the new challenges to those that we have to face and we have ahead.
Grow as a people, foster friendship, citizenship, strengthen family ties at a Party that is a meeting point and companionship in the activities programmed and prepared by citizen groups or civil and religious institutions in honor of our Patron.
My wishes, as Mayor of Totana, that we enjoy in that harmony, in the reunion of relatives and loved ones or in the welcome of those who visit and enjoy us, participating with us.
I hope that the activities and celebrations programmed by the Department and the City Council, collaborating with Associations and Collectives, are to your liking, we take care of our surroundings and our people, as our grandparents did and we are proud to be totaneros, committed to those values that They have been cultivated and improved for centuries.
Better times will come, I am convinced and overcome the current difficulties.
But these dates are to enjoy and rest that there will be time to continue the individual and collective effort.
A hug from your Mayor and my best wishes in your participation in the Feasts of this great people that I am honored to preside at this time.
