A little gem in Totana is El Candil Restaurante. Situated on Calle Santomera (just down from little Consum) this is as close as you’re going to find to an English pub. Primarily a bar, but with a small and interesting menu, here you can while away hours either sat outside watching the world go by or settled inside listening to a very good selection normally of English and American music.
The bar was recently refurbished and now boasts a shabby chic feel with chipboard and chicken wire abounding. El Candil is one of the most popular bars in Totana and it’s not unusual to see a change of staff at 02:00am if the bar is rocking. It’s also the place to find a craft beer and, although it’s not my drink, I’m told that there are some truly excellent beers among the offering here.
Friendly staff and a choice of bar or
table service make this a must visit, and it’s open every day. The selection of
gins and rums in particular is way above average and I’m told that the red
wines are not too cold !! See you there later !
