Amazon, the online sales and distribution company, says that it will soon be employing staff in Murcia region. The news, which follows reports of Amazon’s intention to open a new distribution centre on an industrial site near to Murcia International Airport in Corvera and will be housed in a building of over 50,000 square metres in size. The company already boasts seven main centres and eleven logistical plants across Spain and employs over 4,500 people in total.
There are not too many further details available but this confirmation follows the news that company officials have been in direct contact with numerous agencies and government officials in the region. Confirmation has been given that Amazon have successfully applied for permission to develop a site which sits close to the A30. Exact employment figures are not yet known but it is estimated that over 175 new positions will be created in the centre.
Obviously there will also be a large amount of work created for independent distributors and delivery agents to deliver products arriving into the new centre.
