On Sunday, November 10, the annual edition of the Solidarity Market was held in favor of the Comboni Missionaries, organized once a year by the Group of Missionary Collaborators (GCM) of Totana, coordinated by Luís González Pérez.
The Market was installed next to the main door of the Parish of Santiago el Mayor de Totana, before the celebration of the Mass of 08h.
And with an uninterrupted schedule, it remained open until after 8pm.
The Missionary Market, is one of the most popular and popular activities of the several that develops the GCM in Totana, and this year has reached its XXVII edition.
This group began its solidarity collaboration activity in the 70s of last century;
and its activity has become increasingly popular and well-known, thanks to the annual Solidarity Market organization.
In the Market hundreds of objects of all kinds were put on sale: books, clothes, shoes, bags, stuffed animals, beads, glass objects, toys,… almost all at the price / symbolic donation of € 1 uro.
All these objects had been donated by neighbors of Totana, who wanted to part with them, so that they could be offered at the Solidarity Market.
The cold and the intense wind, did not stop throughout the day (they even had to “dodge†some of the branches that came off the trees of the Plaza del Ayto), but the constant influx of hundreds of visitors, and support and disinterested collaboration of many neighbors of Totana, constituted the main incentive for the whole GCM.
From this space that Totana.com offers you so kindly, the GCM wants to express its gratitude:
In a very special way, to all the neighbors of Totana who donated the objects that were put up for sale;
and to all who came to visit the Market, and to all who collaborated in some way in it.
To Francisco José, Párroco de Santiago, for his support and collaboration throughout the day, as well as those in charge of the sacristy Candelaria and Cleofé.
To the City Council of Totana for having granted them the corresponding Municipal License;
Mr. José Luís Hernández Acosta, president of COATO, for his attention every year, and for the lot of products he donated, from the agricultural cooperative he presides;
To the Pierrot Florist, and the Jesus Romera Carpentry, which lent their vehicles for the transport of objects and equipment for the Market.
Taking advantage of the approach that the new technologies allow, the Group of Collaborators exchanged messages in “real timeâ€, -washapp-, from the Aboke Mission (in Uganda) in which Sister Encarnita Cámara is located;
and also with the Montse Sisters, Mª del Prado and Pilar Gilaberte, from the missionary headquarters that the Comboni Sisters have in Madrid and Zaragoza.
Through these messages, they expressed their gratitude, on behalf of all thousands of Missionaries who are in the various countries of Mission, and sent them continuous messages of encouragement.
Thanks Totana !!
and ... until next year.
